Fidalgo Elementary School Reviews

The most amazing teachers work at this school. It really is a cut above.

It is a great school with woods around it, a vegie garden, and great teachers.

This is a fantastic elementary school. Great principal! Everyone works together for the betterment of EACH child. The only downside is SOME of the teacher aides need to cool their attitudes and put there egos in check. They are NOT the teachers. They are HELPERS. A few should be let go for the have rude behaviors towards the children. They like to throw their power over the children around. I feel it is inappropriate. We should get together as parents and have them removed.

This Elementary school is highly over rated! The district seriously needs to evaluate the quality of this schools staff. The federal 'no child left behind' law needs to be addressed to the overall environment of this school. Various levels of student academic achievement are not directed properly.

Very happy here. My 3rd grader is learning successfully with much help. Love the staff. Much better principal than any other school!

My daughter is in the 4th grade at Fidalgo and out experience here has been very good. The teachers are excellent; caring and committed. My only complaint is that, with a child who is above average intelligence, I would like to see more leveling. If studednts could be divided into groups and taught to their ability, everyone would benefit. As a result, my daughter is sometimes bored.

This school is excellent! The teachers teach math, reading, writing, and spelling in a postive way that helps the children to grasp the subject. The music, P.E, Science, Technology classes are of course awsome and teach the kids valuable lessons about each topic. The Interest Center in the school is used for the school classroom's art projects that they make for different holidays. The parent involvement is extremely high and the staff, volunteers, teachers, students, parents, and PTA are what makes Fidalgo the best!

I cannot even start express my amazement and gratitude to the dedication of this school. My daughter had difficulties on reading the staff has not only changed that but has her, own self image going no where but up. This School is the best public school I have ever seen.

We live in Oak Harbor. We drive our kindergarten son every day to Anacortes to Fidalgo Elementary. I did a lot of research before we made the decision to travel the distance. The teachers and everyone in this school make it number one. The education they offer is outstanding.

Fidalgo Elementary recently received National PTA's award of Excellence for their parental involvement programs. Fidalgo has a site council comprised of the principal, teachers, staff members, parents and public members. They meet once a month. In addition, Fidalgo's PTA Board is large with 20 + board members and 80% + of parental participation. They undertake some large programs which pull in a lot of families: Halloween, I Love to Read, Family Fun Night, Parent Ed Night, and much more. Before coming here we shopped the area for the best school, public or private. After six years we still agree that this is an excellent school with dedicated teachers and great leadership.
